March Photo A Day - Kitchen Sink

As a stay at home mom my girls do not have many chores. They have to keep their rooms clean, put away their laundry and do the dishes every night. Cyra has to unload and put away the dishes. Ashleigh has to load the dishwasher and hand wash the ones that need special care.

Even though they "know" they have chores, I still have to "gently" remind them every night to take care of the dishes.

Last night, I had to to bring Scott to the urgent care doctor. Nothing major (just a touch of strep) but for him to willingly request to see a doctor is not something to ignore. As we left, I reminded the girls to take care of their chores. I assumed the best.

Oh how silly I can sometimes be!

It looked just like this when I left.

Yeah. I know a close up of dirty dishes is kinda gross, but it came out so nice and crisp!

  1. How long does it take for all those to accumulate? If I were them, I might throw up my hands in defeat too. In fact, you should be happy they didn't take them into the backyard and start using them for skeet shooting practice to stop this torturous cycle of dirtying and cleaning.

    1. The pots and pans were from the night before (Cyra had already gone to bed by the time Ashleigh washed them) and the dishes are from breakfast and dinner. Ashleigh forgot to run the dishwasher so I ran it in the morning and then left it! Because. Not my chore! I could have just done them and it would have taken me all of five minutes, but now it's a matter of principle!

  3. Oh man. Looking at that sink almost sent me in to a panic!

Pickleope's skeet shooting comment reminded me of that bad 80s movie. I think it was "Adventures In Babysitting" where they go on the roof, and shoot the plates like skeet. Oh 80s movies, how I love thee.

    1. I pinky promise that it was much more shiny and clean by the time the girls went to bed, much to their dismay!

I loved 80s movies too! "Adventures in Babysitting" was awesome! I think it was "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" that had the dishes skeet shooting...wasn't that the one with Christina Applegate? I haven't seen either since the early 90s...maybe I need to put them on my Netflix queue. It's about time I introduce the girls to more awesome movies!

    1. Thanks! I was actually really surprised at how well they came out since it was night and I only had the over head light.

    1. Thanks. My older daughter "blog stalks" me so I try to make sure she knows what I'm posting before hand if it involves her.

"Try" being the key word here. :)
