Friday Photos

As promised, I have compiled a few more photos I took at the Tolomato Cemetery. When I worked at Ripley's I walked by the cemetery every night and not once felt at all spooked or nervous. The cemetery has many ghost stories attached to it, but I have never seen anything there at all.

  1. Is it weird that I consider these photos to be beautiful as opposed to creepy?

    1. No way! I think these are beautiful as well! And not just because I took them. I like how stark they are, how in disrepair. The site I linked to up above is actually working on restoring as many of the headstones as they can. And even more cool? Although there are no where near the number showing, there are over 1000 people buried in the graveyard.

  2. These are gorgeous. I love old cemeteries. It reminds me of that series they just put on buzzfeed about abandoned towns. They're eerie, but beautiful at the same time.

    1. I love old cemeteries. I have a few photos of the girls when they were younger in the Huguenot cemetery in my home town that I've always loved. They wear these expressions that scream, "Mommy, WHY?!?!" that I just love.

  3. Silent and somber. These speak so many tales.

    1. It was interesting walking around because the tour guide (weird a tour guide in a cemetery) was able to give us the story behind the gravestones. It made it more real.

  4. Captured the essence of a cemetery really well. I love the 5th one.

    1. Thank you. I am fond of the 9th one - the one that is broken. It's sad that it is broken, but it also speaks the to history and the future. You know?

    1. Thank you. As odd as it is there is something really peaceful about old cemeteries. And you're right, there is a hush in graveyards even if the road is only a step away.
