I Made It Monday

What happens when I combine my love of gaming, my craftiness and too many sets of dice? You get a new dice box! I made this a few years ago but as you can see it's getting crowded again. On a side note, I really need to stop buying dice.

The top and front designs are just doodles I did in silver, gold and black acrylic paint.

I painted a light brown on first and then streaked a darker brown through the still wet paint to achieve a wood plank look.

I wanted to line it with crushed red velvet...but all I had was red felt.

So many dice. I think I need a bigger box...and of course more dice would be needed so the box wouldn't feel empty. It is a vicious cycle. More dice, bigger box, more dice...pretty, pretty dice!

  1. Nice work, Heather! All those dice make me want to reach my fingers in and play... so shiny!

    1. I love doing that: running my fingers through them, rolling them! I love the clickity-clackity sound they make on the table.

  2. Cool. I like the dark brown streaked in to give it the plank look. But seriously, how many dice could one person need? And the green one in the back right corner, is that a green die that caught the light weird or a chewed gum ball?

    1. No, not chewing gum. Actually it is one of my favorite sets - it's a mini set, so it is tiny and petite and it kind of looks like green and white play-doh all rolled together.

As for how many sets I need...I try...no, I tend to get a new set at the start of a new campaign (game). It's like buying a new outfit for a new job...or date. :)

  3. Wow, nice job! I don't have any craft skills to make something like this. I think you should definitely go for a bigger box now... and then of course... more dice.

    1. I have it on good authority (mine) that one of my summer projects is a new and much bigger box. :)

  4. This gives me a great idea to do my jewelry box on parallel lines. You have done it in a very neat manner.

    1. It would work for a jewelry box I'd think, except that there aren't any separations inside.

  5. Holy shit! That box looks hella magical... That's some Harry Potter shit right there. Way. To. Go!

P.S. I want to steal your dice... In a total "I love you" non-threatening way. ;o)

    Hugs!

    1. Thanks! I love it when people like what I do so much they are forced into a life of crime.

  6. That certainly is an awesome box you have there. This reminds me that i have a few dice in the bottom of the bag i take with me in the tractor. It has a bunch of stuff i might need and the dice, i don't really know why i put them in there, they just needed to be in there. :)

    1. Are you a gamer, Ken?!?! Because if so, when went from being awesome to being...? I'm not sure what's above awesome, but you'd be there!! And you are exactly right. You never know when you might need dice. I've got a set sitting on my computer desk right now!

    2. I'm not a gamer. But it's not because i have anything against it. I'm just quite sure if i was to step into that sort of thing, nobody would see me for days on end. The games i do last a few hours with friends over for an evening once in a while. Usually it's dominoes. :)
